Abby came in three years ago with baby number one and we made some sweet images… typical cute stuff with baby shoes and hand prints and super sweet smiles. Then a few weeks back Abby told me she wanted to create some new maternity portraits with baby number two.

Due in two weeks, I was afraid she’d be too uncomfortable. The recommendations for maternity portraits is usually around the beginning of the third trimester but Abby couldn’t have been more perky and full of cuteness!

With husband and 3 year old in tow we made some cute family photos… a few of the happy couple and some super cute and (dare I say) sexy maternity images (you don’t get to see those) for them to cherish.

Then things got really real. After my final image she grabbed her belly and gasped. Husband Jake came over to help her into a chair and helped her breath through the pain of baby’s foot pushing against her ribs.

Our own babies were born twenty years ago and it’s easy to forget the pain and challenges that go along with the exuberance of a new baby!
