Just a girl and a chair.. sort of.

I first photographed McKenzie during recital portraits a couple years ago.. then simple headshots about a year ago... there's no denying she's photogenic. LOTS of people are photogenic. BUT McKenzie (and most all my favorite subjects) bring an energy along with them... to play in the studio... to be confident, comfortable while being goofy and silly.

This kid was really great to work with! Sometimes I like to just give a chair to my subject take a photo and say "do something different" Click. "Okay do something different" Click... McKenzie not only made my old chair look good she brought tons of laughs and giggles along the way.

The best thing about photographing dancers is the ideas that come along with them and when they strap on those pointe shoes they really take on a new persona.

I told McKenzie to plan on posing in some water... I figured we'd mostly just splash her with small buckets of water but this was so much more cool.

Maybe the best part of photographing dancers is they always have a huge wardrobe of beautiful dresses and costumes.

I have McKenzie on my calendar to create her high school senior portraits in a few weeks and I can only imagine we'll have a hoot together. She'll be cute and adorable of course but best of all she'll be silly and comfortable in  front of my lens and we'll share a ton of laughs while making some beautiful images.
